The letter is a strange amalgam of viewpoints. The writer believes he/she is not being racist but is just trying to make people, especially cheerleaders and their parents, "comfortable". I think it's time people understood that comfort is not the highest priority we have as humans. It's far more important for us individually and as a society to recognize and respect and even applaud differences includuing different cultures/races rather than attempting to eliminate them in a throw-back to a mono-cultural past.
