Life is always a struggle between our "better angels" and the very human emotions that drag us down -- anger, lust, greed, sloth, hatred -- they've been around since Paul Bunyon wrote PILGRIMS PROGRESS or since the Bible was compiled. i.e. forever. The best leaders inspire us to try and become our better selves -- more compassionate, more generous, more forgiving. But I may have read in your column or elsewhere: "Trump encouraged us to be the worst version of ourselves." And though he may fade, his Trumpism remains.
