I think having a symbolic head of state is very valuable. I wonder if someone like Trump would be happy as a king with no power but the trappings of royalty? Not that I would like him to be king of the United States but it would certainly be better than him having political power and becoming a dictator. With all the loot he can pull in. And actual control over the country.
