I share your love for The brothers Karamazov. Last night I watched Drive My Car up for an Academy award and it’s based on uncle Vanya. The greatest conundrum is how can a country that’s produced the greatest literature in the world behave like such a monster. Yes it is one man yet the country’s history is full of tyranny and bloodshed and mistakes. I agree that the country is going to fall but I fear that Putin may try to take the rest of the world down with him. I’m sure he’d like to. If he doesn’t, and we all survive then hopefully Russia will be built with different foundations. Maybe that’s a pipe dream but it’s worth praying for.
