I really suffer from holding two cognitive beliefs in my head at the same time. #1 Israel is totally wrong to bomb Gaza and kill thousands of innocents. #2 Israel has had to protect its existence since day one militarily.
How can we sitting in a comfortable and safe space and condemn their doing what they feel they need to do to survive.
My only means of balancing these contradictory points of view is IT WONT WORK. Israel may win the battle but they will lose the war.
They must pursue the much much harder path of a third way. But only someone within that nation with vision and compassion can lead the country on that path. It can’t come from judgmental outsiders or it won’t be accepted. And how that could happen is hardly apparent to anyone today….
